CritiCall Ontario Medical Directors support CritiCall Ontario’s Call Centre by providing facilitation direction for cases that may require escalation.
Interim Provincial Medical Director
Dr. Mike Lewell
Dr Lewell is an emergency physician and Trauma Team Leader (TTL) from London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC). Dr Lewell is also a Transport Medicine Physician (TMP) with Ornge and serves as the Chair of the Ornge Medical Advisory Committee (MAC). Recently, Dr Lewell has been appointed as CritiCall Ontario’s Interim Provincial Medical Director.

Dr. Alun Ackery
Dr. Alun Ackery serves as the Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, where he practices Emergency Medicine. He is also a physician with Ornge Transport Medicine.
Dr. Emily Austin
Dr. Emily Austin is a toxicologist at the Ontario Poison Centre and an emergency physician at Unity Health Toronto.
Dr. Ian Ball
Dr. Ian Ball is an intensivist and trauma physician at London Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Varun Kapila is the Provincial Lead, Vascular Ontario Health and Site Chief of Surgery, Brampton Civic hospital, William Osler Health System.

Dr. Caitlin McCallum is an Internist at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Dr. Sean Moore is an emergency physician from Kenora Ontario and Medical Ornge Transport and the Chief of Emergency Services at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
