This week, in her final days before she retires, we celebrate Denise Polgar. Denise has dedicated more than 35 years of her career to the healthcare system, leaving a legacy of service, leadership, and compassion.

Her journey began as a nurse’s aide in a Long-Term Care Home, followed by nearly 10 years as a paramedic in Brantford County, then as a communication and training officer for the London CACC ambulance dispatch. At Fanshawe College she created and coordinated the Emergency Telecommunication program. Denise then went on to serve as an Injury Prevention Specialist at London Health Sciences where she co-authored several research papers published in professional healthcare journals. She was also a Patient Relations liaison at a community hospital. Denise made history as the first-ever Patient Advocate at Ornge—a role that speaks volumes about her commitment to patients and families.

In 2017, Denise joined CritiCall Ontario’s Client Relations team, and has played a vital role in supporting, maintaining, and strengthening relationships with our stakeholders, while deepening awareness of everything CritiCall does. She has been a valued contributor to many of our major initiatives, including modernization projects focused on the Critical Care Information System (CCIS), our Call Centre, the development of our data and reporting platform CORD BI, and the provincial Total Hospital Occupancy Board. She has also played a key role in quality improvements related to case inquiries and how they are processed.

We will truly miss you, Denise—your generosity, your humour, and the depth of experience you  brought to our team. You have built a rich and meaningful career and while it’s hard to say goodbye, we share your excitement as you embark on this next phase. We know you will enjoy the time ahead with your family Mike, Monica, Cade, and Gabby as you continue to travel the world, and spend more time exploring North America in your Airstream.

All the best, Denise—and thank you for everything.
