If your hospital needs to make permanent changes to the availability of specialties and resources for urgent/emergent and life or limb consultations through CritiCall Ontario, it is important to understand the implications to other health care partners. We have updated our PHRS Specialty and Resource Change Form https://www.criticall.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/PHRS-Specialty-and-Resource-Inventory-Change-Form.docx to guide and support hospitals through the process of understanding the impact of changes.
Prior to submitting this form, hospitals need to ensure they have:
- Determined the volume of consultations and acceptances their hospital receives through CritiCall for the impacted specialty/resource and assessed the impact this change will have on the volume of cases that will be directed to partnering hospitals
- Communicated and collaborated with partnering hospitals to help mitigate the potential impacts of the change
- Discussed the change with both their Ontario Health Regional VP of Clinical Programs and VP of Capacity, Access and Flow and have received authorization from OH to proceed with the change.
